Please Do Not Waste Your Single Years

Pursue God. Here lately I have talked to a few people who are saddened by not being married or engaged. (I myself question whether or not I will ever marry. Ultimitely, all that matters is that I pursue God and spread the Gospel. I need to desire daily to serve Him in whatever capacity is best, even if that means I never marry.) If you are single, do not look on it with sadness; see it as a positive thing. You have the ability to spend that time you would have normally spent with a significant other investing in other peoples lives. You have the opportunity to spend more time in the Word. You have the opportunity to spend more time sharing the Gospel. You have more time to focus on others. Be content with what God has given you. Please do not be hurt because you are single. See your single years as a beautiful thing, even if you are single for the rest of your life. God is enough. He is the lover of our soul. No one can love us more. I apologize for the mini rant, but please know that God is enough. Pursue God; it is definitely worth it!

Where is Your Treasure?

Last week I went to Connecticut to help out a church with some kids games, the soup kitchen, and other random events. All I can say is God provides. I talked to the church planter and his wife about their story. They sold all they had to come to the United States from South Africa because they felt God calling them to do so. While reflecting on their story, I thought of a verse from the Bible. This verse is Matthew 6:21, which reads
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
You see, God is their treasure. Not money, family, or "security" that the world offers.
Where/what is your treasure?

Love God First

"And he said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39

Jesus says love God first, then love others. We are able to love others, even those we used to dislike, because of the overflow of our love for God. Without God, it is impossible for me to truly love others. I pray that I can give God all of me, that I can say I truly love God and mean it. Then I will show others God's love by serving them.
